新建村的里新屋(里陈村地名)解放前共有三部碾子,分别叫做老碾子、新碾子和半山里碾子,屋内这部现存的修缮一新的碾子是老碾子。据当地族人考证,这部碾子始建于明万历四十六年,距今已有四百余年,由里新屋太公茂林府君建造,是里新屋一族几百年来赖以生存的家什。当用碾子碾磨谷物等杂粮时,首先要把粮食铺在石八卦上,以牛拉动做圆周运动,将食物碾磨成粉。随着时代的发展,它的功能逐渐被机器所替代,到了上世纪七十年代中后期,碾子这类原始加工工具渐渐退出了历史舞台。

原来的碾子屋,是由两间用溪坑石和黄泥土筑起来的独立瓦房,约四十平方米,有一道缝隙可插手的条子门,就是碾子门,四周墙上只有在南面开了一个近似正方形的石头窗,东山墙有两个长方形的洞,一个没有打通的洞放玻璃灯,另一个打通的洞放置碾磨工具。上世纪七十年代初,里新屋人还是用碾子碾粉,将粉蒸成饭团,用捣臼搡成年糕,在厨板上纯手工制作。用这种方式做出来的年糕香气扑鼻,口感软糯有嚼劲。

后来,老碾子年久失修、破旧不堪;碾子屋墙面脱落、屋顶漏水;又因台风来袭,碾子屋濒临倒塌。2019年,经里新屋族人代表及新建村村民委员会、南洞艺谷景区公司研究决定修复这部老碾子及碾子屋,保留里新屋祖先遗留的这个农耕产业遗址,作为景区配套的文化遗产类景点,供游人参观,以不忘先辈辛勤劳作场景,深切体会“谁知盘中餐,粒粒皆辛苦”的含义。


Before the liberation, in Lixinwu (place name of Lichen Village) of Xinjian village, there were three roller mills, namely old roller mill, new roller mill and Banshanli roller mill. The repaired roller mill in the house is the old roller mill. According to the textual research of local people, the roller mill was built in the 46th year of Wanli of the Ming Dynasty, more than 400 years ago. It was built by Maolin Fujun, the eldest of Lixinwu. It is the household tool of Lixinwu clan for hundreds of years. When grinding grains and other miscellaneous grains with a mill, first spread the grain on the stone, the cow will pull it and make a circular motion, and it will grind the food into powder. With the development of the times, it was gradually replaced by machines. In the middle and late 1970s, the original processing tools such as mills gradually withdrew from the historical stage.

The original mill house was built by two independent tile houses built of creek pit stone and yellow mud. It was about 40 square meters. There was a door with a gap to put your hand in, that is, the mill door. Only a nearly square stone window was opened in the south on the surrounding wall. There were two rectangular holes in the east mountain wall. One hole that did not go through the wall was used for glass lamps, and the other hole that opened was used for grinding tools. In the early 1970s, Lixinwu people still used a roller to grind the powder, cook the powder into rice balls, and smash it into cakes, which were made by hand on the kitchen board. The cake made in this way has a delightful aroma, and has soft and glutinous and chewy taste.

Later, the old mill was in disrepair and dilapidated for a long time; the wall of the roller mill room falls off and the roof leaks; then because of the typhoon, the roller mill room was on the verge of collapse. In 2019, the representatives of Lixinwu clan, the villagers' committee of Xinjian village and the company of Nandong Yi Gu Scenic Spot decided to repair the old mill room, and keep the agricultural industry site left by Lixinwu's ancestors as a supporting cultural heritage scenic spot for tourists to visit in order not to forget the hard work scene of their ancestors and deeply experience that the meaning of "every grain of food is through hard work".
